Yes, all true. We have so much to learn from looking our history without blinkers on. And we can take lessons from how Germany went about this in the 1980's until now, when they took on the task of "working off the past," teaching their own history making reparations. Because as you point out, we tend to pay attention to the most egregious evil-doers or to the heroes, but not to what allows the rest of us to "go along."
