However, as the daughter of resistance fighters in The Netherlands who had to kill the collaborators who might betray them, in order to save the lives of others and their own, I grew up aware of how traumatic that was for them. a trauma they carried for the rest of their time. A hesitation to kill even when necessary, and even in a thought exercise, might also be a sign of our humanity.
