This analogy you draw is deft for showing us how biased our thinking may be. I agree with your point Absolutely. It should be no different and it's a good thought experiment. However, as the daughter of resistance fighters in The Netherlands who had to kill the collaborators who might betray them, in order to save the lives of others and their own, I grew up aware of how traumatic that was for them. a trauma they carried for the rest of their time. A hesitation to kill even when necessary, and even in a thought exercise, might also be a sign of our humanity.
